Alasdair Maclean: Principal/MYP/DP Coordinator
Alasdair is from New Zealand and has been teaching since 1996. Alasdair has a Bachelors Degree in Education, a Teaching Diploma and is currently working towards his Masters in Educational Management. Alasdair was principal in a small rural school in New Zealand, and Deputy Principal at Taihu International School, (Wuxi, China) before joining Etonhouse Xi’an as Principal. Alasdair has vast experience of multi-level teaching, assessment and accreditation having been responsible for these areas in his previous school. Alasdair was also the MYP coordinator at his last school where he instigated MYP and took the programme through to full authorization. Alasdair has been chosen to become an MYP workshop leader and will undergo training in October. He also led his last school in three party accreditations, with C.I.S, W.A.S.C and N.C.C.T.
Alasdair believes that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is his desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
Other than school, Alasdair moved overseas with his wife, Charlotte, who is also a teacher, and his two children, Isabel and Max. Alasdair was a very keen rugby player, and played in Scotland and France in his youth. Lately he has been running marathons, and competing in endurance bike rides.
